Family Pictures - Best Practices

Tuesday April 15 / 7:00 to 9:00pm. $30
Learn how to capture professional portraits using any camera. You will be shown how to adapt to any light including sunshine, overcast light and camera flash. You will also have the opportunity to practice creative ideas in class that produce dynamic portraits full of drama using nothing more than a table lamp. The images you learn how to take here will be far more appealing than the standard department store portrait.

Here you are given a coherent introduction to seeing photographically. What is the nature of the creative process and what are the essential elements that strengthen every picture? Classroom exercises will change the way you see everyday objects and you will be given an ingenious strategy to produce mesmerizing pictures of your surroundings where ever you go.
 
 
 

The Unseen Landscape - Part 1

Tuesday April 29 / 7:00 to 9:00pm. $30
For most recreational photographers the pictures taken outdoors offer the greatest satisfaction. This is because weather, time and climate provide a never-ending transformation of colours and mood. Capturing that stunning sunset or expansive vista can be a challenge, so in this workshop you will learn how to create dynamic landscapes that provide a meditative experience when viewed. You will be guided through the entire process from looking for a sight, setting up the camera and organizing the picture space.
 
 
 
 

The Unseen Landscape - Part 2

Saturday May 3 / 7:00am to 10:00am. $30
This is a follow up to the previous workshop on landscape photography which will be held on location. We start early to take advantage of the early morning light and will meet at 2 locations in or close to Stouffville. Learn why a tripod is an indispensable accessory and find out how to carefully build your images in stages just like a painter.
 
 
 
 

Intimate Experiences with Nature (Cancelled)

Saturday May 10 / 9:00am to 12:00am. $30
On this outing we will go on a short journey into York Regional Forest just north of Stouffville. Be prepared to completely abandon the idea of documenting exactly what you see as we explore alternative ways to examine our surroundings. You will be shown how to prepare the foundations of an outdoor photograph technically, artistically and emotionally.Learn how to visually communicate to others what is important to you and create photographs that possess an enduring timeless nature. On completion you will have a much better understanding of what is involved with producing images more effectively reveal your own personal perspective.
